Abstract

Immo Fritsche is a Professor of Social Psychology at Leipzig University (since 2011). In his research he focuses on basic processes of collective cognition and action ("social identity") and the role of basic psychological motives, such as the need for control, for explaining human social behavior. Also, he applies these processes to explaining and addressing societal challenges. At the center of this are the social psychology of the environmental crisis and research on conflicts between groups (e.g., polarization, radicalization), political attitudes, and collective action.
